Scot Menzies - Director

Scot is a Chartered Accountant, Associate of the Securities Institute, Fellow of the Tax Institute, and a Registered Tax Agent. He has been working as a professional accountant since 1984, providing services to business in the areas of accounting, business management and income tax.

Since 1993, Scot has also reported as an expert on economic loss in over 200 court matters. He is a member of the Chartered Accountants' Forensic Accounting Special Interest Group and has appeared as an expert witness in the Federal Court, Supreme Court, District Court and Dust Diseases Tribunal.

Scot became the Owner and Principal of the firm in 1999, after 6 years as the Manager. Born and raised on a sheep and cattle property in far west NSW, he is now settled in Sydney with his wife and 3 daughters.

Jacqui Muller

Jacqui is one of our two Client Managers. She has been with McDonald Ross since 1999, has a Bachelor of Financial Administration, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2001.

Jacqui is responsible for a diverse group of business clients in areas from lawyers to health care, who all remark on her personal care and attention to their needs. Jacqui has extensive knowledge and experience with self managed superannuation funds.

Jacqui is also an MYOB expert. She can go to your business to help with setup, processing and training on MYOB, and at the same time provide useful advice on day to day issues in your business.

Chris Bacher

Chris is our other Client Manager, and has been with the firm since 1995. Chris has a background in banking, and is nearing completion of a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Chris has responsibility for the accounting and compliance needs of the Harvey Norman group of franchises, and is well known to be friendly and approachable. Chris also takes care of the information technology requirements of the firm.

Deidre Newey

Deidre is a Senior Accountant who has qualified as a Chartered Accountant. She has a Bachelor of Commerce and has worked in the profession for over seven years. Deidre joined McDonald Ross in 2005.

Deidre has worked with a variety of small to medium sized businesses. She has experience and excellent technical knowledge in compliance and taxation planning for groups of companies, trusts and partnerships. Clients comment on her quick service and attention to detail.

Barea Assoum

Barea is another Senior Accountant who joined our firm in 2003, and had worked as an accountant for three years prior to that. She has exceptional technical knowledge, and experience in providing business and taxation services to individuals, small and medium sized businesses.

Barea has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Sydney, and when she is not at the gym, she is studying to become a Chartered Accountant.

Cameron Kempe

Cameron is a Senior Accountant working in the accounting and taxation area of the firm. Cameron joined McDonald Ross in 2001. He has a Bachelor of Business through Charles Sturt University, majoring in Accounting, and has now qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Cameron does a lot of the training and development of junior staff within the firm.

Cameron has an excellent work ethic, a friendly and approachable manner, an enthusiasm for golf, and unwavering dedication to his young family.

Stacey Down

Stacey is also an Accountant, and joined McDonald Ross in 2002. She has an Advanced Diploma in Accounting, and has completed a Bachelor of Business through the Charles Sturt University. Stacey is now studying under the CA Program to become a Chartered Accountant.

Stacey is a fun loving person, with a genuine desire to do well in her career. She is helpful, friendly, and receives great feedback from her clients.

David Thomas

After 4 years with a large firm of Chartered Accountants in Sydney, during which he completed a Bachelor of Business, Dave spent a year with a mining company in the harsh Pilbara area of Western Australia. He returned to join McDonald Ross in 2007 and resume his career as a professional accountant. Dave is also studying under the CA Program to become a Chartered Accountant, and has achieved excellent results so far.

Olivia Wang

Olivia has a Masters of Professional Accounting from UTS, and joined McDonald Ross in 2007 after 2 years with a similar firm in Sydney. Olivia is also studying under the CA Program to become a Chartered Accountant. She is pleasant, thorough and keen to do well.

Alice Chan

Alice is an Accountant who joined the team in 2006. She has a Diploma in Accounting and is studying for a Bachelor of Business from the University of Western Sydney. Alice has previously worked in Hong Kong and the USA.

Karen Hammill is responsible for ASIC compliance and provides corporate secretarial services for all of our corporate entities, of which there are over 1,500.

Kathy Apostolatos is responsible for BAS lodgements and Payroll Tax compliance for our largest client group, consisting of over 600 franchised entities.

Elizabeth Ferguson is our Office Manager and has been with McDonald Ross for nearly 18 years. She handles all accounts payable and receivable, and is responsible for the electronic lodgement of all our income tax and ASIC returns. Elizabeth is assisted by our admin staff, Harriet Smith and Matt Newey.

Dolly Le is a junior accountant, and Gay Ellery does our internal reporting.
